Technology is getting so invasive these days. GPS in the right hands would be able to find a love one like a missing child, elderly parents or grandparents with Alzheimer’s, even your beloved pet. GPS in the wrong hands can assist an abusive spouse or significant other, even burglars. I welcome the advancement of technology and yet I am so afraid of what it can do to harm innocent people.

My company uses GPS to track our tractors and other delivery vehicles. I think they should use GPS to track prisoners myself…

Yep, go GPS.
You can track where people drive and how fast and that’s great to hang over the head of your teenage driver(s), as a parent.
There are tracking chips for people/pets, but there are instances where the GPS implant chips caused cancer in pets who had the chips inserted sub-dermally. They have collars with GPS too, but they have potential to be removed.
They only other problem is enviornmental. Sometimes you can’t get a sattelite…or adequate satellite coverage so your coordinates are either inaccurate or completely errorneous.
Unfortunately, the technology still needs some further refinement, but with a Trimble fielding unit you can actually get sub-meter and even sub-foot readings on a given position…assuming your satellite cover is good and your offsets are accurately corrected.

You do understand that if you can track someone with a gps, other people can also track that person.
